Welcome to Crouch Valley u3a

History

Based in the small Essex town of South Woodham Ferrers the Crouch Valley u3a was launched at a well attended first meeting on Tuesday 15th March 2011 as a sister group to the already well established South Woodham Ferrers u3a. We currently have around 162 members and new members are welcome to join us. If you wish to come along to one of the monthly meetings please use this link to contact our Membership Secretary.

Crouch Valley u3a became a registered Charity from April 1st 2018. Its registration number with the Charities Commission is 1180675 on the Charity Commission Certificate that has been issued.

The University of the Third Age is a national organisation, formed in 1982. It currently has reached 1050 local u3a groups and a total membership of well over 440,000. There are 140 u3a groups in our region. It seeks to provide informal learning and social activities for people no longer in full-time employment. It is run entirely on a self-help basis: all the committee members and group leaders are volunteers. We are affiliated to the National Association. To find out more follow the National u3a link. We currently have 23 thriving interest groups which are listed on the Groups page and any of these can be joined either by contacting the relevant Group Contact at a meeting or by emailing the Group Co-ordinator via the Contact page. We welcome suggestions for new groups from our members so if you have a special interest not catered for by our existing groups we would be delighted to offer the opportunity to set up a group within our organization.

Membership Form

If you interested in joining or continuing to be member please complete the Membership Form 2026 and either post it to our Membership Secretary of bring it along to the next monthly meeting. With regards to payment please read the information contained in the form.

The membership year runs from April to March. Membership fees fall due for each u3a year on the 1st April.
